I needed some inspiration after a long day of early vote and GOTV work, and I found it here.
Though I am happy to be working on a local legislative race, I am so ready to re-elect Barack Obama!
This week, I had some rare free time between jobs. While making my employment decision, I spent a few days helping out with voter registration on UF’s campus.
Voter reg can be very draining and frustrating, but it is also incredibly fun. I forgot how rewarding it is to register someone to vote, and know that in November he/she will cast a ballot for the first time.
No one should be sitting this election cycle out. Whether you are volunteering for President Obama or a local candidate, get involved! My entire college career was changed because I got involved in Obama 08 as a freshman.
Alright, getting off my soapbox now.
A few observations:
- All of these free bumper sticker opportunities coming from the Obama campaign are awesome. So far I have ordered Young Americans, Women and LGBT for Obama stickers - for free!
- I have yet to actually receive any of them. As much as free stickers are a cool idea, the turnaround time is sloooow. My apartment lease is up at the end of July, and it would be so tragic to miss out because I had to move.
And so it begins. I will now commence collecting as much campaign swag as is humanly possible.
